Rights: You keep your rights.
Length of Contract: Usually not preset.
Author Warranties: Author own the rights.Publisher sets the price: Publisher will set the wholesale price, but the author will set the retail price.
Royalties: The difference between the wholesale cost and what the book is sold for.
Advance: You pay them to set up the process and turn your book into a product.
Distribution: will be through their already established distribution channels, so some order fulfillment will not be your responsibility. If you can set up your own distribution streams, you are free to do so and encouraged to do so.
Initial print runs: Whatever you can afford. If possible, make the first print run large enough that if you could sell your books at full retail, you'd see a complete return on your investment. Print runs can be of any size with Partner-Publishers.
They take advantage of both the digital and off-set styles of book production.
Shelf Life: No time limit.
Inventory: You will not be required to keep any inventory, but it is advised that you keep at least 50 on hand at all times, so that you can attend special engagements without having to re-order books.
Options: You're free to go wherever you want for your next book.
Marketing obligations: They market their entire line of books, which includes your book. They train you how to market your book and help through out the process. Cooperation sales between the authors is possible.
Mistakes/Updates: You can have them fixed, for a fee, before the next run of the book.Remaindered: This process was designed to eliminate this as a problem.
