Cookbook Issues

Be consistent

The most common mistake in cookbooks is inconsistency in abbreviations of the measurements.

To abbreviate or not abbreviate in the recipes must be decided upon before you start - or at a minimum before you print.

Most recipe books are a compilation of other's recipes and as such, each has its own style.

You, as the author of a cookbook, must develop your own style and adapt each one of those recipes to your style.

Are you going to use 'cup' or 'C'

Are you going to use 'Tablespoon' 'Tbsp' 'T'

They're all perfectly correct, but not consistent. Choose your rules before you send your style into the publisher.
