They do not have time to read that many books or even reverse engineer your press kit into interesting interview questions that will keep their listeners interested. So, you need to do that for them.


It is quite likely that when you do a radio interview, that the only material he/she will have seen is this set of interview questions, even if you have sent them a copy of the book. To make this interview a success then, you must come up with some strategically formulated interview questions that you have already rehearsed the answers for. To make their job easier and your message clearer, take the time to create 'sample questions'.

How to 'reverse engineer' an interview.

Note: in steps 1-3 you are stating facts, not posing questions. Wait for step 5 to turn them into questions. You may want to combine some of these individual points into compound questions.


1. List 10 the obvious points you want to make about the book? These include the title, the author, when it was written, what it is about, who it is for, what the ISBN is and where they can purchase it.

2. List the obvious points you want to make about you? These include why you wrote it, how long it took you, what happened to you since you wrote it and what you want to accomplish with the book.
