Yet poll after poll tell us our current vision isn't exciting men enough to get them off the sidelines and into the race. The vast majority of Christian men have become spectators to the great adventure, rather than disciples of the One who said "Follow Me."
While Jesus has already run and won the race on our behalf, He commands us to run anyway. That calls for action as well as faith, and finding the delicate balance between the two is what Running the Race Already Won is about. I don't promise "5 easy steps to sanctification," but a roadmap of personal and practical spirituality to help leadership and the men in the back rows of the church to reconnect and begin running together with a new vision!

Review of Running the Race Already Won
Christianity was never designed to be a spectator event. Michael Wolff presents a compelling alternative for what passes today as normative Christianity where learning is a surrogate for doing, theology is a substitute for discipleship, and teaching takes the place of leading. Jesus calls us to physically follow him into the places where he is restoring and reconciling what is lost and broken in our world. As a longtime practitioner, leader and discipler Michael writes from the perspective of one who sees what the church could be, not under a different program but under a different vision where every Christ follower lives out his or her God-given desire to make a difference in the world.

The Back Row Revolution
The fact is that when we're born again, we're born ready to run. We might not be destined to stand behind a pulpit, or head up a ministry, but God gifts everyone He saves. Whether we are given one talent or one hundred, the only question is what we will do with that giftedness. The scriptures tell us that God's divine power has given us everything we need to live life in godliness (2 Peter 1:3), and that by that power, we are to run the race of the disciple with endurance (Hebrews 12:1). We are able to do this, because God will re-create us in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are spiritually re-born with new legs, lungs, and hearts that give us divine power to run anew. The Spirit has endowed us with the endurance needed for a long cross-country event that will carry us all the way to the goal.
So why aren't we running, guys? Why are 85% or more of us in the group Jesus asked, "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and yet do not do what I say" (Luke 6:46)? Why is that same majority choosing to hide their talents under the proverbial rock, rather than run out to win a prize for their Master's return on His investment? One reason? We've lost several critical balances Jesus displayed, not the least of which is the balance of abiding with bearing fruit set forth in John 15:1-17. It is this balance Jesus both taught and lived. It is this balance Jesus displayed in His relationship with His Father. It was not a balance Jesus donned on Sunday mornings, it was a balance He was in every fiber of His being. It is that model Jesus used to lead His church into creating disciples known by their love - men who run.

Michael Wolff
From the time Michael found Christ in the late 70's, he felt a calling to a balanced, proactive life of ministry both inside and outside of traditional church settings. He believes the Christian walk is intended to be integrated into the community, and that a great adventure awaits any who will step out in faith and engage.
In 2005, Michael founded The Carpenter's Helpers , facilitating churches, para-church organizations, and individuals in service to the aged.
Now through Reconnections , a ministry based upon the teachings in this book, he desires to help men and leadership come together and have a tangible impact for Christ in their communities.
